to fill in some more details on shifting u.s. economic and security forces toward southeast asia and the pacific. but the visit is overshadowed by other international issues in the spotlight. amongst the asia pacific community, that would be the battle over the south china sea which involves china cambodia and the philippines. while that's one of asia's biggest security issues right now, it's paling in comparison to what's going on in the middle east. fighting between israel and hamas continued again yesterday. the palestinian death toll is now up near 100 and many of those people are civilians. president obama and bill clinton both took to the phones yesterday, speaking with benjamin netanyahu of israel and president mohammed morsi of egypt. the main word they're using is de-escalate telling the two nations to scale back the violence but so far neither side is willing to cease-fire unless the other will bend to their demands. egypt does have a peace tree with israel which is why that country could be the key in pu

are watching us around the country on wgn america and on the web. our top story comes just a day after b-p agreed to pay billions in fines for the 2010 deep horizon explosion on the gulf. this morning's blast happened about 25 miles off the coast of grand isle, louisiana. the coast guard says four people have been airlifted to hospitals .... and at least two others are missing. the rig is owned by black elk energy ... and a new orleans t- v station reports about 28 people were on board at the time of the explosion. the coast guard says unlike the deepwater horizon blast in 2010 ... the black elk rig wasn't actively producing oil. so far there are no reports of oil leaking into the water. the fire has been put out. former c-i-a director david petraeus faces lawmakers on capitol hill for the first time today since his stunning resignation. he testified about the deadly attack on a u-s consulate in benghazi, libya in september. he was the director of the spy agency at the time. u-s ambassador chris stevens and three other americans were killed in the assault. petraeus testifed the c-i-a

minutes before that, we saw very, very close to us, we could actually hear the sounds of the rockets leaving the rocket launcher right over our heads towards israel. we know the sirens went off in israel after we saw the rockets here. so here it goes again. you can hear the booms now of air strikes. this is starting to start up again and it's not unusual that at night when it starts getting late here, this all starts to go full force. in the morning, about 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, and aven7:00 is whee hear the most air blasts and activity, but it sounds like it's going to be another one of those crazy nights here in gaza. the entire city pretty much shut down after the air strikes that hit the police headquarters and the hamas headquarters. thingvis have gotten quiet, bute also heard hamas was telling its workers, government workers, to go back to work tomorrow. i don't see that happening with all that's going on now. if it's the same as it was yesterday and the day before where things got very, very loud and very, very active during the night, i don't see that happening that people will be
